C'è chi vuole risparmiare tempo, e per questo è
disposto a pagare, e chi di tempo ne ha in abbondanza ma non ha molti soldi, e per questo sarebbe
disposto a svolgere piccole mansioni. Nasce dunque sulla consueta logica della domanda e dell’offerta
il nuovo portale www.waitpal.com, che si propone di mettere in contatto chi non riesce a svolgere le
proprie faccende quotidiane con coloro che si offrono di eseguirle a fronte di un compenso. Questi
ultimi sono chiamati WaitPal e danno il nome al sito.
Il meccanismo è semplice: un architetto non vuole perdere una mattinata al catasto, un manager ha bisogno di qualcuno che faccia la fila in posta per pagare una multa, uno studente chiede aiuto per pulire la casa dopo un mega festone, una signora non ha voglia di portare a spasso il cane. In questi e in altri svariati casi è sufficiente pubblicare sul sito un annuncio e aspettare che qualcuno si faccia avanti per soddisfare la richiesta. La tipologia delle mansioni è varia, ma tutte sono accomunate dal fatto di non richiedere una particolare competenza per essere portate a termine. Quello che più conta è che colui che si offre abbia un buon feedback e che faccia una proposta interessante in termini di prezzo. In questo modo si genera un meccanismo che crea competizione fra i vari WaitPal e che permette così al richiedente di scegliere la miglior offerta per la faccenda che ha pubblicato.
Il sito, nato dalla collaborazione fra due studenti della Bocconi e un laureando in ingegneria informatica del Politecnico di Milano e finanziato dalla spagnola Kookaburra Venture SL, vede la luce in quattro lingue e opera in tutti i paesi in cui funziona il servizio Google Maps. WaitPal.com è un sito internet gratuito che mette in contatto chi non riesce a svolgere le proprie faccende quotidiane con chi è disposto ad eseguirle a fronte di un compenso.Due sono le tipologie tipiche di utenti del sito: chi vuole risparmiare tempo e chi vuole guadagnare qualche soldo. Questi sono chiamati WaitPal e danno il nome al sito. Chi, invece, è interessato a cercare un WaitPal per svolgere una mansione, può essere qualsiasi persona o azienda che, pur avendo tempo, non può completare i propri impegni o preferisce, per svariati motivi o per ragioni di convenienza economica, che altri li realizzino. Se gli utenti del sito sono molti e diversi fra loro, altrettanto numerose sono le mansioni che possono essere richieste, anche se tutte sono accomunate dal fatto di non richiedere una particolare qualificazione od un'elevata esperienza per essere portate a termine. Quello che più conta è che colui che si offre per svolgere la mansione (WaitPal) abbia un buon feedback e che, molto spesso, faccia una buona offerta in termini di prezzo. Un meccanismo che crea competizione fra i vari WaitPal registrati nel sito, infatti, garantisce all'utente indaffarato di scegliere la miglior offerta per la faccenda che ha pubblicato. Il principale vantaggio del sito è quello di permettere a tutti quanti di avere un personal assistant a prezzi contenuti da usarsi quando se ne ha bisogno. Insomma, se solo pochi possono permettersi un vero e proprio personal assistant che renda la vita più facile, su WaitPal.com tutti possono trovare una persona che migliori molti aspetti della vita di tutti i giorni, rendendola più comoda. Questo concetto è anche estendibile alle aziende, che con WaitPal.com possono esternalizzare alcune delle attività più semplici, concentrandosi su quelle più complesse e con maggior valore aggiunto. Questa è la filosofia che caratterizza WaitPal.com. Il progetto WaitPal.com è nato a Milano dalla collaborazione fra due studenti della Bocconi ed un laureando in ingegneria informatica del Politecnico. osservarono come molte persone, incluso studenti con limitate risorse economiche, avrebbero pagato qualcuno per avere il biglietto del concerto di Vasco Rossi, della finale di Champion o del derby, senza dover fare chilometriche ed interminabili file. Dall'altro lato erano loro stessi desiderosi di svolgere alcuni lavoretti per guadagnare un po' di soldi, sempre necessari in una città cara come. Il progetto si concretizza a Barcellona, dove due dei tre amici fondatori si trasferiscono per lavoro, nella primavera del 2007. Nella città catalana ha dunque sede la società che ha fornito i capitali per realizzare il sito in quattro lingue ossia Kookaburra Venture SL.

Waitpal.com is a freelance website for regular folks who want someone to do those chores or odd jobs they do not have the time or motivation to do themselves. For those looking to earn a few extra bucks, you can advertise your services and bid on jobs in your area. The site is set up for the majority of countries but seems to have hit the Spanish market first, although this will surely change as the site gains popularity. While you could of course look through the phone directory to get a plumber etc. it is pretty difficult to find someone to do the more mundane tasks in life like go and collect your dry cleaning, wait in line for hours to get some paperwork sorted and other time-consuming tasks. Because Waitpals have to bid for the tasks you list, when the site grows you will be able to find someone who won´t rob you blind as they will have to state their price upfront and outbid other Waitpals. They also have to do a good job because you can give them positive or negative feedback, affecting any future work they could get. There are never enough hours in the day, so why not get someone else to do your dirty work and spend the extra time you gain on having fun instead.
